  1. Hi---

After years of medicines (prandin plus Metformin)----

I went a couple years ago to Metformin, Avandia and
    Glyburide.

I had to go down from 2000 mg Metformin a couple years
ago, as the strong nausea would last 24 hrs each time.
So they let me go down to 1000
mg. I do 500 mg in the morning and 500 mg in the evening.

Now I'm on 8 mg Avandia and 1000 mg Metformin and 15 mg
Glyburide plus 4 units of Novolog NPH at night to help
control liver dumps giving me high AM readings.

I'm trying to find that travel container that uses
(water?) to keep the insulin cool while gone for days
    from home.

Any help on this is appreciated.

I know the level of NPH is very low, but they will watch
my readings and adjust my Insulin upward as my Bg
    readings indicate.

Tonight I gave myself my first shot---in the left fatty
stomach wall. Odd, but shortly after that, I had an odd,
kinda metallic or medicinal taste in my mouth.

I also give myself monthly B-12 shots, trained by the Dr's
on how to inject. Each shot is 1000 micro whatever, so it is
a larger 29 gauge needle and larger syringe and larger
    liquid volume. Hurts sometimes.

But the small 31 gauge needle for the NPH is almost no
sensation at all, thank goodness. A really easy shot.

I took the NPH out of the fridge, rolled the bottle, and
filled the syringe to 4 units.

Later I wondered if I should have let the insulin warm up a
bit first---- Any ideas on that?

Somehow, even though I give myself monthly B-12 shots in the
arm, the first Insulin shot is bothering me, mentally. It's
not like B-12 to keep my energy up. It's insulin, for
    Diabetes type 11.

I don't think it will be a big mental hurdle, but I am
surprised that this bothers me. Like anything else in
life, I try to face it straight on, and go thru it, and I
    will on this.

But I am a bit surprised at my mental stress on the insulin.
Unlike the B-12, I think it is the "disease" concept, and I
feel it is making inroads into me, and the insulin
represents another step in the disease, and it is a
degenerative step. I think that's the analysis of this odd,
    <sigh> type feeling.

Any thoughts on this is appreciated. I am surprised at my
<sigh> and "down" type reaction. I feel like I "used to" be
young and strong, and things are changing.

I wanted age 65 to be a bit brighter.

Well, enough self pity, if I want to feel self pity, any
walk down a hospital corridor will snap me out of it. I'm at
the Hospital fairly often, unfortunately. But the good side
of it, hospitals are where we do get help.

Sorry for the ramblings--- I think I am just stressed with
this latest change in life. There have been very many
changes, and I will get through this one, just like I got
    through the previous ones.

Best to all----------- Ron Injected for the first time an
    hour ago :-)

Just think you may get better control with the insulin. I
wish I had been put on insulin to start with. I take UL and
    R 4 shots+ a day. Good Luck Bobby
