  1. Actually the atkins diet often *is* higher in protein and protein *has* been shown to reduce body
    weight when substituted isocalloricaly because of thermic effect (protein>carbs>fats), also the
    diets that they are studying is *nothing* like the atkins diet as atkins himself says: "induction is
    *not the diet*.. even though scientists will argue that it is" (quote in my own words) - it is very
    likely the atkins diet per se is less successful at reducing total weight than induction (obvious to
    even the most ignorant atkins dieter).. ps: personal++annectotes don't convince us, I've been
    posting pro-atkins comments for over 4 years, longer than anyone else here I can think of..
