Novarra has been around forever, it's their house brand. I have no idea how
it compares to a non-house brand but I think they are pretty much
entry/middle of the road.

Contrary to popular belief, these are not Jamis made bikes. They
actually spec out their frames to the same company that makes Giant.
They have upgraded a lot of the stock components on these bikes. While
not the best MTB you could buy, you could do a lot worse. However, for
the price you should look for something with a better reputation. The
one thing that REI does have going for them, are their reputation.
Customer service wise, you'll never have a problem.
