To make a short story long....
When storing my bike it sits on its side inside my car, and the chain sometimes starts to come off
the chainring for a tooth or two, and on sunday when I started up, I heard an unsubtle kersnap, and
there was a broken chainring where before had existed a happy new chainring. The last one bent, but
this one broke.
I know the cure is to pay attention to this somewhat minor detail, but I thought I'd share this with
y'all. For the record, the chainring that broke and not bent was a vuelta.
And the shop I had bought it at was the vastly more expensive closest shop, and not the much cheaper
farther away shop. Of course this more expensive shop wouldn't replace it with out the sales
receipt, and it went in the recycling long ago. On the other hand, this is one more store to avoid
giving my money to.
You're probably thinking, hell I broke it through stupidity, why should they replace it for free?
Well to my thinking, and my 36 years of experience, this is not a part that is prone to breaking.
Wearing out, smashing, sure, but breaking cuz of a derailed chain? I think not.
