How unusual for the sprinters competition to parallel the mountains
competition. It seemed that once Boonen withdrew there weren't many
points up for grabs. Lots of sprints seperated by climbs. Lots of
breaks going off up the road and grabbing points. Lots of non-sprinters
taking high stage placings.
I think that a good idea would be to have an increasing value assigned
to points (mountain and sprints) as the tour progresses. Early in the
race a win could get you 10 points, second week a win gets you 20 and
last week a win gets you 30. This would make some of those
insurmountable leads a little less insurmountable.
It was good to see the polka-dots racing with yellow for a good portion
of the race. Even if the last time was when Lance passed Rasmussen in
the last time trial.
