Certainly starting from Bergen may be a good choice. The west coast of
Norway is very pretty, high mountains and long and deep fjords. So,
regardless whether you are going to Oslo or Trondheim, be prepared for steep
hills and narrow and winding roads.
If you choose to go to Trondheim (where I live) I would suggest going along
the coast. This would bring you through a very typical west coast scenery.
Although most of these roads are popular tourist roads and therefore fairly
busy they are by no means motorways and you should be ok. The
alternative, going to Trondheim would be across the mountains and then
heading north on the E6. I don't recommend that. The E6 is one of the most
busy roads and not as scenic as going north along the coast.

Going to Oslo from Bergen you have many options, cycle-wise I would not
really know what to recommend.

I am still studying the maps and hoping to go up to Trondheim along some
inner route.
I have an idea of the terrain, because I have been in Norway already
once, though by car.
For example, one place I would really like not to miss is that famous
Trollstigen road.

May I pose further questions to you?
Whether or not, is there a club or discussion group I could contact and
consult?

The Trollstigen is close to the cost. I consider that to be the outer route
in Norway if you go from south to Trondheim. The inner route will be over
Røros to Trondheim.

But I agree with you - don't miss the Trollstigen road.
