Okay, so I cycle about 15 miles a day usually and 40-50 a day on the weekends, and am getting better and better. What's the most effective way to get into competitive road biking? Just find a local club and register for races? Also, what's a good amount of miles to train on daily and how long should a "GOOD" cyclist take to do a 40 mile trek?

That's the single best thing you can do! An hour or so per day, if used effectively is enough for general club racing. -
I think so. Register for a local club and training one hour per day.
