Hi all,
I bought my first racing bike a few months ago. It's a Sintesi
aluminium frame with Campagnolo Mirage 9-speed gears rear and Mirage
2-speed front. The rear cassette is 13-26 and the front chain wheels
are 39,53. Now to the problem:
When I first got the bike, I used gears 3-9 with the big chain ring in
the front, and it wasn't noisy or had any other problems. After about
450km (280miles) it was time for the first service. Above all, gear 3
and 9 had gotten pretty noisy, which I took as a sign that the gears
needed adjustment. Since it's a new bike, the dealer said I would need
to service it after 300-600km, when some parts would need tightening or
readjustment.
After getting the bike back, it's still quite noisy in 9th gear, and
also a little so in 8th gear. Sound like it's about to shift, to me,
but both the front and rear derailleur look like they are where they
should be (to my amateur eyes anyway). Each time I press down my right
pedal, there's a rattling noise coming from the rear gear. Due to this,
I don't dare to apply much force when in top gear. I've brought it back
to the dealer after this and he readjusted the gears, saying they
weren't properly adjusted, but the symptoms are still there. It's
virtually quiet when you're not applying any force, and I noticed the
dealer only uses his hands when adjusting the gears, not trying it out
with real force applied. I'll bring it back to the dealer again, but
I'd like to have a better idea of what might be the problem before I
do.
Thanks in advance,
Fredrik
