  1. I took the new rig out for it's 2nd ride yesterday. I don't know why I was
so concerned about switching from flat bars to risers. I was afraid that it
would hinder my climbing but it hasn't at all.

Anyway, I let loose just a bit more on the descent just to see what it could
do. It's still handling like a dream. I can just imagine the fun this
thing is going to be once I'm completely used to it. In any case, as I was
going through the more technical, steep sections I was hearing some noises
that I'm not used to. The rear disk was wailing like a freakin banshee
under heavy braking (I'm coming from V's) and the rear shock was chirping
(kind of loud) on heavy compressions. Also, there was a bit of a creaky
sound coming from the front end. I can't tell if it's coming from the head
set or the fork, just in that vicinity.

Are these sounds normal and just due to a breaking in period or should I
take it back to the LBS and have them tweak it a bit? No other bike I have
    owned was quite as noisy.

    Thanks again,

My discs (mechs and Hydros) squeal all the time. It basically tells the
guy in front, your going to slow so get the [censored] out of my way 🙂. The
rotors and pads are new, give them some time to get worked in. A little
rudding alchohol on those parts might help too.

I use just a dab of lube on the rear shock and joints. It seems to do
the trick. Most of my front creeks come from the cables rubbing
together on turns, bumbs, and against the frame. I always thought it
was the headset until I ziptied the cables away from the frame.

Not sure about the shock or front end noise. But disk brake squeal can be
fixed, but in my case it took allot of experimenting. I tried many
different pads on my Hayes Mags. The thing that worked for me was to put a
wavy rotor on the back of my 5-spot. For caliper and spoke clearance on my
DUC32 a had to put on a 8 inch rotor, it never makes a noise.

I have Hayes Mags on my Kona Unit and they made noise when they got hot.
Put wavy rotors front and back and only the back squeals and only when it is
    wet.
