I am hoping some of you did it. What is the average grade? Would a 39x25 good enough to maintain a moderate fast cadence?

In the 4-6% range, has a slight downhill and flat section about 1/2way up. Short steeper section at the end. Gearing will depend on your climbing ability and expected cadence. 39x25 is fine for a fit climber.

That will be fine for the climb. Most of the climb is probably 5-7%, with two downhill sections, and a few short ramps once you enter the park which are close to 20%. If you have any opportunity, it sure helps to pre-ride the course, just to get a feel for it. You're on good road for at least 3/4s of the climb, then make a left turn into the park onto narrow paths with a steep climb, a down hill, right turn, and then (as I remember) two more steep ramps to the finish. No one (ok, maybe a couple of really strong cat1s) has much cadence on those ramps.

Thanks. After my Palmer incidence (got lost again the second time driving there), I am very apprehensive about driving 3 hours+ to any races. I was schudelued to do the Jiminy Peak. Again, is a 3 hours and 30 minutes drive. I decided to do something closer to home.
