I had to take the car in to have one of the window motor regulators
replaced this morning. Of course, I wasn't in the same place as the
car, so I rode four miles to it, threw the Redline in the back, drive
to a very unfriendly industrial place in town with the best mechanic,
went into to fill out the form, drop off the key, etc. Walk down the
steps, and there's a client waiting for his car, go to mine, pull out
the Redline, put one boot in a clip and I hear, "Nice spare, man!" The
ride back was in shoulder free industrial zone, with a mile grinder,
gravel patches, and dump trucks--but I kept a grin on my face the
whole time. Nice spare, indeed! Perhaps vehicles should all come with
a Brompton compartment--"just in case".

Justin Case is on the staff of Car Talk--I think he's their insurance
advisor or something.BTW, I use the luggage space in my Subaru to carry my Dahon, for that same
purpose. It often gets comments from the mechanics.
