  1. i can remember pedaling really hard (>25mph), slicing thru a few winding curves, then the sign posted to a tree with arrows that point left and right but not straight ahead.....
I can remember trying to slow down and the back wheel hopping and chirping like a airplane landing on a short runway... followed by the front wheel flexing and my grip tightened on the hand brakes. with the tree growing closer, the front wheel flexed enough to luanch me up and over the front handle bar. i can remember flying thru the air horizontally like superman, only the bike was still attached to my shoe clips.......

i remember the thud of my helmet thru my skull as it smacked the concrete, a breif vision of eyeing concrete an inch or two away as i curled over and continued my deccelerating slide on the concrete, thinking how much more its going to hurt once i stop sliding.

i ended up grinding a flat spot on my elbow to the top of my forearm, grinding an addition flat spopt on top of my should, strain and sprained my shoulder, dislocated my colarbone, fracturing my shoulder blade, a deep bruising of the hip and more skin lost on my thigh.

But i got up, straightend the bike, and pedaled for home, slowly, thinking how stupid i was for not looking up sooner. only to realize how lucky was to ride away from my wipe out, seeing as how 2 riders hit head on and died on the same trail and same day.

well, time to get out and recover, i think a good 10mile road trip is in order!
    peace....

  2. Ah, memories!😄 I'm due for a face-plant soon as I haven't had one for a while. I'll bet the first thing you checked was your bike, rather than yourself. Congratulations on wiping out spectacularily.

  3. yep, it was first on my mind was to check on the bike, seeing as how after i sat up after my slobber-knocker event, and seen it was still attached to my left shoe like a piece of gum stuck to the bottom of your shoe on a hot day!

    :o

  4. I think 2 deaths and one almost death is more than enough for a detail-specific sign, maybe with a death count. Write your city council, or whoever could take care of the ouch trap

  5. A little bike story. Very descriptive almost timeless. Like reading a great novel. Recovering and on for another ride. Sounds good to me.
