  1. hiya
    anyone have one?
    or had one?
what do think of the power?
is there much reduction in power in the rain?
does it freeze in freezing temperatures?
    how is /was the modulation?
    any noise while braking?
    any noise while not braking?
is the maintenance really as simple as adding some oil every so often?

    thanks a bunch

There are roller brakes front and rear on my wife's Giant Revive.

Seem to be fine. Stopping power is certainly adequate for moderate
speed riding on level ground (all the current experience).

    Haven't noticed any.

    We'll find out this winter.

Very smooth. Smoother than V brakes on my other bikes.

    Completely silent.

    Completely silent

That what the manual says. Haven't had to do anything else.

  3. Thanks MR

There's a thread discussing these on rec.bicycles.tech right now:
"Roller brakes: running friction?". It sounds like there's people who
    have experience with these brakes.

I was reading some of Shimano's material about the brake. They don't
recommend it for loads over 100kg (220 lbs.). Since that's how much I
weigh, without bicycle, I'm not going to try them.

  5. thanks for the heads up Jeff
