  1. Hey there

Want to start getting into some touring so planning a 4 day ride round Brittany, France.

My current bike is a '04 badboy with new XT kit and Mavic XC717 rims (I currently use 26x1" tires)...

Is there anyway this bike could be used as a tourer with a plan to carry tent/etc with total weight about 15kgs (not carrying food, etc)? I'm only going on reasonable quality roads.

Either going to go for trailer (bob?) or panniers, but not sure if any differene to whether or not can use current bike?

Perhaps change to stronger rear wheel or wider tyres?

    Cheers...

  2. What is an '04 badboy ?????? FS, hardtail??

  3. Apologies...

It is a fully rigid (no suspension) cannondale. Essentially a CAAd3 mountain bike frame but designed as a city bike for use with slicks etc. But all components as per regular cannondale mountain bike.

  4. Your bike will be fine for French roads and lightly loaded touring.

It is overkill, but if that is what you have, use it!

Enjoy yourself! Post a few pictures when you are done!
