Quite newish to cycling and need a little advice!
I have a Scott P6 Hybrid with bontrager race lite hard case 28c tyres.
Would I get away with putting 25c or even 23c tyres on?
Any help greatly apprecated!

The thinner tires will give a firmer ride, there is debate on whether or not you'll see an increase in speed. I switched towards the end of last season from 25s to 23s, I didn't notice much difference other than the feel of the ride.
You need to check your rims though to see if the 25s or 23s will fit them.
Yup, rim might be issue.
I don't know what wheelset you have, but I am willing to bet that the 23s will work fine. I have run everything from 23s to cyclocross tires on my hybrid/commuter with no trouble whatsoever.
