Hi all, just hoping someone might give me some advice over my gear set. I bought a Pinerello Sestriere winter trainer some months ago and have since been thinking hard about joining a local racing group for there 50 mile sunday runs.
My question is - my gear setup is 13-26 rear and 53/42/30 frontside which has been fine for a newbie as Devon has some reasonable hills - however I'm can't help thinking I wouldn't be a lot better off ditching the 13-26 for a 12-24 cassette. I have been cycle commuting for years and I'm wondering whether I'm gonna find myself running out of gears when racing. I can live without the easier gears as I think I can adapt for heavier gearing on the big hills now.
Can anyone advise me on this? Also, I have done about 900 miles on a brand new chainset. Will I get away with making a switch for a new rear cassete now?
Thanks for any tips you can give - cheers all.cyclingforums.comsmile.gifOpen ↗
