I am new to cycling. I dont know a thing. I do know that for the last 8 months i have been riding to and from work and last weekend did a 100k ride without much problem. I am looking for some sort of training schedule/nutrition advice from someone who has `been there done that.` I live in a a country where amazon.com has become my dire enemy, withholding books and information that would allow me to feel educated and literate again! Any information would be great....
take care and ride like the wind!

By the way, I live in the countryside of Japan...cant do any `flat terrain` runs around here...
I don't know a lot but went from riding a little to riding a lot informally - a quick 40 minute ride in the morning a few times a week added to 20-25 miles a few times a week (with two on the same day a few times), with a longer stretch on the weekend, and they gradually got more often, longer and faster. I logged the weekly miles and that encouraged me to stick an extra couple miles here and there. It wasn't all that informal in that there were some 4-mile loops that I'd watch my time on, and set goals for conquering. (I usually set really easy goals, then really smite them. I have a ravenous ego.) And gradually I started riding with faster people, whihc meant I rode faster then -- but only occasionally. The best company's still the 14 mph-ers. The occasional hill charge makes even an "easy" ride an interval occasion. I just eat whatever, which is generally healthy, lots of carbs, especially the kind with hops.
