  1. This is what my grandmother called "New Year's Cookies"- i don't think it's What you are looking
    for, but maybe......... Lt

    New Years Cookies

    2 cup flour, sifted
    1/2 tsp. soda
    2/2 tsp. salt
    3/2 cup shortening 1 cup light brown sugar 1 egg, beaten
    4/2 cup sour milk
    5/4 cup nuts, chopped
    6/4 cup dates, chopped
    7/3 cup candied cherries, chopped
    8/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

    Sift flour, soda and salt. Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and mix well. Add flour mixture
    alternately with sour milk. Add dates, cherries, chocolate chips and nuts, mix well. Drop level
    tablespoon on greased cookie sheets. Bake at 400 degrees for about 12 minutes.
