I'm looking to buy a new wheelset soon. I can't make up my mind yet witch though... I'm thinking of AM classic CR-420, Easton Circuit or tempest, DT Swiss RR1.1 and 240S hubs. Here in Europe you can get a pair of CR-420 for about 470 us dollars. Mainly from Germany (on-line). Are they any good except for the weight and aero rims ? The bad things I heard about them that the hubs aren't waterproof and the brakes area of the rims not high enough (8mm in stead of 10mm). Any one some experience with these !? The easton wheels I think are stronger wheels (heavier) but cost a little bit more. Circuit=490usd and tempestII=800usd. In the long run I guess a better choice. And then the more traditional wheels of DT Swiss RR1.1 with 240S hubs and DT rev spokes. Retail price 510usd. Swiss quality wheels and reasoneble light set of 1500g. Anyone an opinion about these wheels ? Good or bad let me know please.
6 months ago, I bought a set of easton (i was told it was previously called Velomax) Ascent II wheelset, it's stiff and light (compared to my old Rolf Vector Comp, shaved 1kg off me bike) and no problem so far.
