I doubt there's any difference at all. Tyre pressures and widths
determine the ride comfort you get from the wheels, not the rims.

Seems a bizarre idea to me that *wheels* should be comfortable. Just about
all bike wheels are very stiff, radially (vertically). Forgveness comes
from the tyres. The tyres should be comfortable enough for the wheels to be
as stiff as possible.

You need to look at the tyres and not the wheels for comfort. I'd feel very
uncomfortable riding a bike with 'comfortable wheels' as they are likely to
flex moreso under my porky frame ;-)

New tyres are also much cheaper than new wheels so you can spend the surplus
on other bike bling.

People who don't ride them say they're very stiff and unforgiving. I find my
Ksyrium ESs a pleasure to ride on. Mind you, they're only ever used in
conjunction with a full carbon frame - I haven't yet tried them on my new
aluminium bike.

They are very, very nice wheels - definitely the nicest I've ever had. I'm
currently building myself a pair of wheels using top quality conventional
components, so I'll perhaps have a fairer comparison in future; but against
mid-range conventional wheels the Ksyriums are just nicer in every way.
