  1. Hi guys,

I want to buy new wheels.

    I have been looking at:

    1) Mavic Krysium Elite
    2) Shimano 105/Ultegra, depending on value for money
    3) Open Pro's + Ultegra hubs
    4) Bontrager Race Lite

Now, I know (1) and (4) are a little more expensive, but do you think they're worth it over the rest? I am a reacreational rider, I do it to keep fit and because I like it. No intention of racing, kust doing 100-150km a week. At the moment, I have cheap old Cpx22's with Tiagra hubs (Came with my bike).

Also, I know new models will come out at the end of the summer. Is it worth waiting for them, and then get a 2004 model in the sales? How long before sale season starts (I'm in the UK)

Finally, are there any good alternatives in the £150-250 price range?

    Thanks!!

  2. If those are your choices, get the open pros with ultegra hubs. Fine quality for what your needs are, and excellent bang for the buck.

Although I would suggest that you consider some of the other nice wheelsets that are out there (there is a world beyond Mavic). Ambrosio or FIR rims are excellent also, although I have no idea of availability or pricing in your neck of the woods! But that is just the Italian in me speaking! 😄

    Have fun!
