I'm a budding racer and am looking to upgrade my wheelset. I'll use my new ones for racing and the old ones...you know. Anyhoo, I'm not sure what's out there and what I need. I race crits and would like to get a few road courses in this year. I'd like something lightweight but strong for the crits. I'm 5'6" and weight between 145 & 150. I really don't want to spend more than $500 on a set because I need a new cassette as well. I've got a LBS that will give me a deal on a pair of '04 Ksyrium SSC SL's for $550, but I think I can get some just as stiff and light (maybe lighter) for less (e.g. Velocity Aerohead's laced to Am Classic hubs w/ double butted spokes). Any help and info would be appreciated.
