Well i found this site whilst trawling for ideas on good mtb offroad routes in the south Manchester/peak district area! Any good ideas anyone?
A bit about me! Well i use my orange gringo on michelin jet's to travel to and from work every day (come rain or shine) and extend this to a 3/4 hour ride on the way home twice a week. I climb a lot so weekends are usually spent at the crag but im starting to get back into the riding after realising the fitness benefits and the speed of getting around. I used to travel to work on the road bike but due to punctures and not being able bunny hop onto pavements away from idiots swerving all over the place whilst talking on their phones i opted for the mtb. Whats everyone elses experience with car drivers? Mine range from courteous to gobbing out of the window on me! Im not an erratic cyclist i have just learnt to be confident, but i cant seem to help but get the red mist as yet another git swervs into the bike lane as they come to a halt. Why do they do that, is it safer with your wheels nearly touching the kerb. Rant over.

I'm just coming back after a short stint away, but don't let that diminish the weight of my "welcome!" 🙂
Always remember that cars are like wild animals and they can smell fear! Your confidence on the road will confuse them mostly into inaction, and give you the upper hand in all but the most unfortunate situations where a motorist, stunned into inaction by your confidence, will instead do something inane...
Congrats on all the biking you do to and from work! I wish I could do more of that as the bulk of my cycling is more for recreation and excercise than practical purpose as yours is.
I went the opposite way as you though as I went from exclusively MTB'ing to now exclusively road biking... 🙂

Ah the mtb versus road bike conundrum. Didnt realsie how much slower you go on the mtb. I would love a mid price road model as well but alas no money or space! I always seem to be on the big chain ring on the off roader whilst on the road and look down to see the chain bending. Bloody gearing not really suited for it. Ah well cheers for the reply
