  1. My LBS has pointed out that my rear tyre is displaying incipient cracking,
and I'm looking to replace it. I was wondering whether anyone has any
comments to make on certain Schwalbe tyres:

The original tyre was a 700x35 Schwalbe Delta Cruiser.

I'm thinking of replacing it with the same, or, at about twice the minimal cost, a 700x35 Schwalbe
Marathon. It depends what the LBS can get. When replacing a part, I always aim to meet or exceed the
quality of the bit I'm replacing.

Has anyone had any great or terrible experiences with either of the above?

The bicycle is used for fenland commuting (a few miles daily) and gentle leisure rides of about 30
miles or so (weekly in summer). It may see the occasional well-maintained gravel path, but city
streets and country lanes are my normal envirionment.

Thanks in advance for any help.

  2. Schwalbe Marathons on my Brompton have now done 2K with no punctures! Highly recommended.

I run two bikes (amongst several more), one with each of the two tyres you mentioned and really
can't tell the difference .... the upside of Marathons according to my LBS is that they will last
longer and have better puncture protection.

... just read what I said above .... OBVIOUSLY one bike (a Galaxy) has Marathons both ends and the
other (Claud Butler Majestic) has Delta Cruisers on both :-)
