Ok...So I really want to get into cycling more or less w/ road bikes...It has been a couple years since I have been on a bike other than stationary...I play soccer almost every day and jog atleast 5 miles the same day..But, jogging is getting so boring I want to go fast and far..So should I go out and get a road bike..or a mountain bike like everyone else says..I'm going off to college and everyone

I'm sort of new to cycling myself, but I would say get what suits you, not what other people are telling you to get. If you plan to go off road, then of course you'll need a mountain bike!Malanc

Many cyclo-x bikes may also accomodate racks on them also. So go to your local shop and check out the cross bikes, then go out and ride and enjoy.

I would recommend looking back to your previous experience. Was it road biking? Did you enjoy it?
Talk to people that you know that ride either MTB or Road. Are there more MTB trails in your area or are the roads good for cycling? Would you be joining your friends for rides or going solo?
I rejoined cycling last year after many years away from riding. I needed to get a bike and this is how I made my decision. I had previously been road cycling and always loved the speed. There are many good roads and paved trails for riding in my area. Many of my friends were road cyclists. Hence these factors contributed to my decision to get a road bike. Fortunately it has all exceeded my expectations and I only wish I had done this sooner. The amount of roads seems endless and I've met more road cyclists to share my enthusiasm.
Hope your experience is as enjoyable.
