New SS, need help with a smal problem

A couple of ideas/solutions:

1) Are you using a new chain? Dumb question I know, but this is the first usual suspect. If the chainline is correct, by simply moving the chainwheel to a lower size is not going to slove chain derailment although it may very well be a good idea for other reasons (mainly your knees tee hee). While on the subject of chains, with single speed I have found 8 speed chains work best (they are slightly wider).

2) I am not familar with the Nashbar single speed conversion kit. Assuming your using a chain tensioner, make sure that you are using the "push up" option rather than the "push down". The chain being "pushed up" at least for the Surly chain tensioner, gives much better chaing wrap over the rear freewheel verus the "push down" position.

I am indeed using a new chain, 7/8 speed.

I'll have to give that a try on the tensioner - I am looking at removing it all together though - I just have to cut out the drop outs a bit to give me some wiggle room.
