After I finished a run and cool down, I was walking inside and starting feeling a lot of pain on the outside of my left knee. I was feeling quite good when running and did not notice anything with my knee.
It felt like it hit me 5 minutes after my cool down, while walking normally. All of a sudden I started limping.
One day later the pain has subsided and it's just sore. It feels better the more I walk. I have not tried to run obviously.
Does this sound like my LCL? Was it caused by the running, or is it possible it was caused by not properly stretching when done running? If caused by the actual running, is it due to running "too long" or "too fast" (both relative terms in this case, ~3 miles @ 8 min pace). Any advice on how to prevent/treat this appreciated. Thanks.
Don't rule out the LCL, but do a Google on "ITB Inflammation" and see if this matches your symptoms. ITB problems are common for new runners and those who are increasing mileage.
