Hi, I just bought a new MTB. Only $105 AUD. I need advice on tightening the handle bars/frontwheel alignment. Also the seat and it's height if need be. Should it be high for a small man? Are old bell 1991 helmets out of date here in Australia. Which tools do I need? Also the tubes were put on wrong and I cannot put air in. How shall I move the tubes to straighten the valve nozzles?
Should the break pads touch on the rims of the same wheel simultaneously. oil27

Should the break pads touch on the rims of the same wheel simultaneously. oil27To tighten the handlebar just tighten the 4 or 2 allen key bolts on the front of the stem.
To tighten the stem if your stem is lose, lose the allen key bolts behind your stem usually 2 bolts, tighten the allen key bolt on top of your stem only one bolt, then tighten both the bolts behind the stem, make sure your front wheel is align before tightening all the bolts.
For your seat heights, it depends what kinda riding you planning, if its gonna involve lotsa jump then don't set your seat too high, if pure XC riding then a seat height like normal roadbike will do, if you're on platform pedals you can do higher than that.
For your misalign valve, you have to remove one side of your tire, align your tube against the valve opening fix everything back.
It'll be best if you can align both the pads to touch the rims simultaneously, that'll be optimum performance.

Thanks, to fix the nozzles I just had to roll my bike backwards, or smack the tyres the rightway. I tightened the breaks yet still they aren't as tight as I'd like. I need to touch the paint up. I still need to tighten the seat and the seat is the main problem because it is slashed. The masking tape shifts when I sit on the seat. Is there a SOLUTION to a slash? oil27
