Hello everyone. I am looking to commute to work a couple days a week (eventually more days later on, I hope). I tried doing this a couple years ago but got discouraged with the experience. I'm ready to try again but I need to purchase a bike. I have looked at several, but I don't want to pay an enormous amount for something that may not work out. So....I have looked at a Trek 7200, Trek Navigator 300, and Giant Cypress DX. If anyone here has any info on the comparison of these bikes, I would greatly appreciate your input. My commute would be ~ 8 miles one way.
I am not familiar with all the bikes you quote, however the Giant Perigee would be a better choice. Similar upright riding position to the Cypress but better road performance from the tyre and gear selection.
If you go for the Cypress try it with 28mm slicks.
I have a Trek 7300 and I love it for general riding, but to be honest I am looking at addingl road bike bike to the stable for those long weekend rides. Also i suggest that if you do buy a hybrid that unless you intend to do off road replace the tires with thiner road slicks.
