I am new to the sport, am thinking of taking up duathlon. Any help and
advice would be much appreciated.

Info required: maybe some vague training ideas,
how to go about the sport.
available races and frequency of events.
funding, teams, sponsorship etc

Thanks!

beginnertriathlete.com is a great resource and a helpful online
community. They have some free training plans, races you can sort
through, training logs, forums, articles, and all kinds of other stuff.
It's a pretty general question you've asked, you might want to snoop
around there and repost with more specific questions or just search
through previous posts on topics you might find interesting.

Once you start, you'll be hooked. Welcome!

thanks, seems like a friendly crowd. Good point from both of you.
I'm a fairly highly experienced cyclist and I tend to specialize in
Time Trials. I am cycling fit despite doing some cyclocross a few
years ago I am not running fit yet. In Cycling I am an international
level rider but am feeling the need for a new challenge after many
years based in europe traveling around a lot and seemingly doing the
same stuff every year.

I will be based most of the time around south france/northern Spain, so
the races I would be looking for would be around that area.

In terms of teams, sponsorships etc, I'm interested in a fairly good
level. First I'll see how I get on at a "local" level, but if I do get
hooked I would be interested in teams providing full support if such
things exist in duathlon.
For now and with other obligations throughout most of the year I am
planning to stick to Duathlon as I swim like a led U-boat full of
holes...

Again thanks for any info.
PS: I'm not totally green, I did a few duathlons a couple years ago, 1
triathlon and a 1 or 2 running events as part of sponsor support yada
yada yada and won them all, but they were only local things and I
suffered for about a week after each with leg pain.
PPS: beginnertriathlete.com looks pretty good overall. Thanks!
