  1. A new bike shop is opening in Dundee. It really is local, being on the Perth
Road 5 mins walk from the Uni (just on the town side of the Speedwell, on
the opposite side of the road).

This isn't a new venture, it is an expansion of the well-regarded SPOKES
shop in St Andrews so should be able to give a good service, despite being a
    fairly small shop.

It seems targetted at mid to high end, with a few childrens bikes and the
usual accessories. Lots of Endura stuff, so I might get this years winter
gloves there (pair of Endura Shield).

They are open but not officially (that is apparently Friday).

Hurray! That's almost as goodas the on campus shop I wanted. Now I can
bring my bike in in the morning and just walk to work/study.
That is, I'm assuming they have a workshop as well?
