    Hi I'm new here.

Why is it that most runners are liberals and vote Democrat?
Before you start spouting off stuff like "mr. ABC is a republican
runner, blah blah..." re-read. I said "most". From what I have seen,
the overwhelming majority of runners are liberals.

Do you have any empirical evidence or are you just pulling this drivel out
of your ass? Distance runners are overwhelmingly white and have median
incomes above the national average which would be more consistent with
conservatives. No, running makes you smarter which would obviously make you
be conservative (except for Doug who is really smart on everything except
    politics, scouts, and religion).

"running makes you smarter which would obviously make you be
    conservative..."

Joseph, do you have any empirical evidence for this statement or are
you just pulling this drivel out of your ass?

In case you didn't notice, almost all of this group is liberal, mostly
Democrats. About 5% is Republican and 95% of that 5% is people like
you - who like to think they are smart but reality is otherwise. Also
hypocritical, like accusing others of pulling drivel out of their ass
and proceeding to do exactly the same.

Becuse running tends to clear one's mind and rational thought takes
over. Once the cobwebs are gone the current administration proves to be
a circus of lies and finger pointing - "so-n-so told me wrong". After 10
or more finger points most people see it for what it is.

Thank goodness, a voice of reason so that I don't have to say I agree
only with Bill! 8^) That Bill and I would be on the same side of this
scares me. But I guess it just means that even trolls can see how GW
Bush is tearing this country appart.

Now for the question: are runners liberal Democrats? I would say they
may be more liberal, but less likely to be party members of either
party. I personally consider myself a conservative independent. If
anything, I think the Libertarian Party is closer to real conservative
values than the Replicans are. Ralph Nader has it right, the two big
parties are the same, slaves of big business.

    YMMV

  7. Then what about Mr. Teresa Heinz? The richest man to ever run for

GWB shattered all records by appointing all multi-millionares to his cabinet,
and you mention JK's loot? I'd like to know WTF their money has to do with it?
You hate him because he's rich, and you're not. That about sums it up.

I think the whole notion of "liberal" vs. "conservative"
tends to over-simplify the whole thing. Politics, like life,
    is not one-dimensional.

I agree that the Libertarian party is closer to the ideals
that have been called "conservative" in previous generations.
However, I also know that those ideas directly caused several
depressions and many recessions, and much human suffering.
Learn the lessons of history, and avoid repeating the mistakes.
One of those lessons is that "conservative" ideas cause
    economic recessions.

Ralph Nader is just a nut. A vote for Nader is a vote for Bush.
We really don't have a choice of three for four candidates this
fall. Either Bush or Kerry is going to win. A vote for any
third-party candidate just denies your vote to the major party
candidate that would have been your second choice.

What a dumbass. You only know that the four or five vocal minorities are
liberal. You hardly know what the whole group is dumbass.

You also don't know if this little group is representative of anything but
we know your sorry ass is gone come November.

    My Dear Brother Bill,

Since you seem to be so smart and intelligent and compassionate,
I have a simple question for you?

Why did your preacher, ooops, I mean, leader GWB not refer to Osama a
*single* time in his speech yesterday? Has he forgotten who was
responsible for 9/11? He's not afraid of Osama, is he? After all, he
    promised to "smoke him out"?

Not ``forgotten'' so much as ``very confused about''.

  12. If Bush would spend more money taking care of this country and quit
sending job,s to other places and take care of our country we would not
be in the shape we are now those 2 countries will neer get along if you
read your Bible History you would see why we are trying to get people to
have some freedom and things like we have and are allowed to do it will
never happen in my life time The old saying you take care of your 1st
and if you have anything left over you share I am a senior 73 years of
age I do not know how lod you are but i sure hope things are better for
you as you grow older My husband who has oassed away once said that when
our Steel Mill,s shut down this country was in trouble Well, need i say
more What put ae men out of work Getting Steel from other countries
sending job,s where they could be done cheaper And why is Bush Putting
the ban on people getting Drugs from Canada And what keeps the prices up
so high that we have to chose between food or meds to stay alive My
Grand Pa once said the only thing a working man has at the end of the is
an Empty Lunch Pail and an Acheing Back and i think he is right So good
Luck to you as you grow older Talk to some Seniors and you will find out

Yes it will. Why is everyone so pessimistic about Kerry? I'm from mass, and I
will tell you the truth, he has been badly misaligned in the press, because he
has done good by us here. This flip flopping is just [censored]. He is an intelligent
man who will reconsider his position when presented with new evidence. He keeps
an open mind. People like you are part of the problem, right now we need
    positive forces.

You mean like a balanced budget which helped keep out economy

    Steve

I strongly disagree that a vote for a minor party or independent
candidate is vote FOR anybody else. In our electoral system, second
choice doesn't matter. I have always suggested folks should vote for
the person they believe is best able to lead the country. Selecting
the "lesser of two evils" from the two major parties is not a good way
to vote IMHO. That's how I have voted and will vote.

All votes count. Not all affect the election to the same degree. A
president that wins the electoral college vote, but lost in the
popular vote (meaning the votes totalled over the whole country) still
gets a clear message: he is on shaky ground. His policies will have
little support in congress as a result. He may feel free to do some
things if he is a lame duck second term President, but his real power
    is affected.

(The real trouble with that situation is the lame duck has power to
make things worse, but not a lot of power or incentive to make things
    better.)

Finally, the worst possible thing to do is not vote at all.

See you at the voting booth Steve.

Of course, you are a low-life, ignorant, piece of [censored] Ed, so let's put things
in context. Nader is a Bush pawn, he lives in million dollar mansions, with
multi-million dollar bank account, gets over 100,000 per speaking engagements
(of which he does several a month) but yet claims to be a "common man". Only a
