  1. I am looking for the first road bike in 18 years!!

The new angled top tubes (compact frames) and long steering tubes, short top tubes compared to the old frames have me confused.

Is it the design of the new headsets that dictate the long steering tubes??

Also-if anone can help, my two frames from 18 years ago are pretty close. About 51.5 average between the two on the seat tube measured from center of bottom bracket to centerline of top tube and the top tubes are ave. 53.5cm. One is a Paramount and the other a Trek 2300.

Looking at the Giant TCR and Fuji Team lines, it looks like a I need a 52 or 54cm frame and my top tube is still short of what i think I would like. TO look at the frames-theye look too large and feel to large when i sit on them.

Can anyone break this down for me? Have top tubes become shorter and steering tubes become longer over the last decade?

    Thanks in advance,
    Ray
