New DuraAce ergonomics

  1. Anyone have any real road experience with the ergonomic differences between the new style (7800) DuraAce STI levers in comparison with the old style (current Ultegra) shape? My LBS seems next to useles in this regard.
    Also if there is any defintive news if the '05 Ultegra will have the same contours? Thinking of getting some new Ultegra but may wait or even splurge for DA shifters if merited.

    7800 STI is narrower than the previous DURA ACE grip area.
    7800 STI has less reach required than previous DA.
    I rode it when on a recent trip in California.
    I didn't find that the feel was an improvement for my hands (Men's large).
    I also ride tandems and touring bicycles that have even narrower grips because I use regular Shimano brake levers without STI.
    My hands don't have egonomic issues with either end of the range.
    I don't have a clue on the '05 Ultegra contours.
