  1. Hey guys,

A few days ago, I asked a question about bikes. I got a lot of great answer's from here and went searching for the bike that "sang to me".

Well I found two bikes that really seem decent to me, they have decent mid range components. One is a hard tail, and one is a FS bike.

The hardtail is a Marin Nailtrail with disk brakes for $550 from my LSB

The FS is a Haro Extreme X2 for $649.

These are 2003 model bikes that they are giving me a deal on. The Haro was listed at 1100 and the Marin was listed at 750.

My personal thinking is the Marin has a bit better components on it, but a decent FS bike would always be welcome.

What are your guys opinions? I have mine I think, just looking for what other people think as well.

  2. i would take the X2 coz i prefer the full suspension bikes and it has marzocchi EXR comp but i dont know how good the Rock shox Pilots are.

It depends on what u are going to do on the bike.

Basically going to use the bike as a XC machine, trails is where we can play around here. I might do some DH on it, but thats not 100%

Thanks for the responses guys. I've decided to go with the Marin Rail Trail. Basically the bike overall just felt better. If I decide to go with a fs bike I think I want a bit higher end bike in the begining and not worry about having to upgrade it. The marin has good enough components on it not to worry about breaking them, and its so light!
