I have throughly enjoyed "lurking" for a while, reading and learning from all of you, but alas, I am still a bit lost. Let me explain... I was raised on two wheels, started riding at three years old, and was working on my own ride before five. As a teenager, I rode "go-fast" bikes like my old Viscount and Fuji road bikes I bought second hand. Fifteen years later,(and about 100 lbs heavier) I have fallen in love with two wheels all over again. I bought an ok Mart bike (Pacific MTB}, and modified it as far as I can; road tires, fenders, rear rack, you get the idea. I use it for commuting about 12 miles one way, a few days a week, family outings, and just riding around town. The problem lies in the fact that I am 6'4", 270lbs, and my little MTB is just too small for me. I would love to replace it, but there are sooooo many options, I was hoping that I could get a bit of advice. I don't personally care to race bikes anymore, just ride them for fun and health. I'm leaning towards a trekking or hybrid type of bike, however, again, too many choices.
Giant Cypress LX, Specialized Globe, and Trek X500 all seem to peak my interest, but would love some guidance.
Thanks in advance,
