  1. Years ago the wife was given an old Schwinn single speed bike, and she'd kind of like me to restore it for her. I am more into restoring old cars, but thought I would give this a try.

Not sure if it's worth the effort, as it looks like a stripped down old Starlet from similar pictures I've found on Ebay. The serial number is R42820. It doesn't have the chain guard, fenders, rear rack, or that fancy object right by the headset that identifies make. (Not sure what you call that thing)

Anyways. I received a quote for 75 dollars for powder coating which is too much. It needs new pedals and grips really bad. And the original leather seat cover is in alright condition, but the foam and springs are poor. I would also like to find some handle bars which extend out or up further as the wife has lots of neck problems.

Any help or advice is appreciated. I really don't see any catalogs on the internet for these old bikes, and I'm just trying to make it nice on a strict budget.... PS-I love chrome!

  2. Sorry, the link didn't work, the posting was delted after 30 days. I was giving away a Schwinn Repair Manual 1969-1975. However, collect, Perth only! Perth is in Australia, as is this forum.. 🙄

No need to be pushey, just be patient, a 1/1 reply may come. :p

  3. George. Your link does not work, and I don't know what Perth is.

Come on guys and gals. 27 different viewers of this thread and only 1/2 a reply. Please SOMEONE, ANYONE, help!!!! 😉
