  1. Hi all, sorry if this is an incredibly naïve question, but I need help finding a new brake cable for my Schwinn Sprint c.a. 1980. I haven't been able to find it online... is anyone familiar with a place I might be able to find this?

  2. Brake cables aren't bike-specific, that's why you aren't finding any. Generic brake cable often comes with a drop bar lever "button" at one end and a flat bar lever "button" at the other. Figure out which one you don't need, cut it off and you should be good to go from there. They're usually sold "front" and "rear", which only differs in length. Rears can be cut down to act as fronts.

Somehat pricier brake cables might be sold for one specific application, in which case you need to figure out which type you need. Flat bar "buttons" look like a small barrel stuck on perpendicular to the wire, while drop bar "buttons" look like a symmetric knob.

Do note that there is a bunch of small details to this, like how to cut the cable, how to avoid it starting to unravel etc.
