  1. Looking to buy a bike in the 500-700 range and have narrowed it down to three:
Marin Palisades Trail- $680 28.9 lbs 17" Frame
    Haro V4- $450 ? 16" Frame
    Specialized Rockhopper Comp-$750 29.8lbs 17" Frame
(Weights are from LBS weighing the bikes)
Previously had a Trek 3700 that was just not enough for me. Looking for something solid, yet light and be enough bike for me as my abilities (and confidence) grows. Can't find much info on the Haro and Marin so anyone with experience would be great!

So far this is what I have come up with...

    Pros:
Marin Palisades Trail (Weight, triple-butted alum frame, components, disc brakes, rides smooth as silk)
Haro V4 (Price, rides fast and agile)
Specialized Rockhopper Comp (Double-butted alum frame, good v brakes, won't ride till this afternoon)

    Cons:
Marin Palisades Trail (Not much info on this bike/brand)
Haro V4 (Cheap disc brakes, frame?, not much info)
Specialized Rockhopper Comp (Weight, Price, no disc brakes)

Also the Marin and Specialized would be coming from LBS with lifetime maintenance included. The Haro only comes with one year of free maintenance (Copelands).

Mainly ride trials (dirt and paved) but on the weekend we take the bikes to the mountains and go for it...

If anyone has other suggestions, let me know. I made a blunder buying the Trek so I am hoping to moving into something that will last me for sometime and put a smile on my face every time...🙂

    Thanks.
