  1. I want to use rollers this winter, and I am confused as to which roller diameter would be best to
use. I did a google search on the archives on this group, and the concensus seems to be in favor of
the larger rollers, which would be 4" or more. Then I found this link:

    sportcrafters.comfrequently asked questions.htm

which is the only link I have found that discusses rider weight and tires in relation to which
rollers to use. They recommend the larger rollers for riders who are 170 lbs or more and using wide
tires. And 3-3.5" rollers for everyone else.

Any comments on the advice given in the Sportcrafters link?

I have Action Mag Roller made by Minoura. It has a 4" roller. It about 4-5 years old, I guess. I'm
about 187 lbs. It has worked well for me. One thing I didn't understand on the web site:

Rollers are NOT for the kind of heart-pounding, leg-burning workout you get with trainers.

I certainly can get a good leg-burning workout on them. The only problem I have found is that is the
magnetic resistance is set too high, pedeling is not smooth. I set it at a level where 20-22mph is
really pushing it for me. That is more resistance than the road I would guess.

Anyway, I never adjust the mag resistance at all, just change gears. The first time I get on
it after not using it for awhile is always "interesting". I make sure there is nothing in my
    crash zone 🙂
