My indoor trainer, a "Travel Trac Century" fluid trainer came with its own quick release skewer and the manual says to use the one it came with. I have been doing that for a year now, but I was wondering if it is really necessary. For the record, I am using it with a Kestrel 200sci frame and Campy Chorus components, and the Campy quick release fits in the trainer clamp just fine.
Is there any specific reason I need to keep getting my fingers greasy changing my quick release skewer each time I use my trainer?

~Probably~ no reason not to use the Campy. BUT if you are jumping around on your bike or are doing hard intervals on the trainer and are torquing and twisting the skewer, then you may be better off using the supplied once - higher end skewers probably won't take too well to it since they are made lightweight and don't need the type of strength to be held in an indoor trainer.

My solution has been real simple. I just leave the skewer that came with the trainer on the wheel regardless of indoor our outdoor rides.
