  1. Hello everybody!

I would like to buy the Navman R300 in order to monitor my progress in
    running.
I usually go running three times a week, about 7-10 miles each. I would
like to trace speed, distance covered and eventually calories burnt and
    similar.
What do you think about the Navman R300?

Do you think I should consider a HRM like the Polar RS200SD instead? I
think that the Navman could be better for me (compact, just one small
unit)... but I am not positive on what to do...

    Suggestions appreciated folks! :-) Thanx!

I'd say unless you're in a rural location with few trees, you
shouldn't consider a GPS without a Sirf Star III chipset or similar
quality, otherwise it will simply not keep a good enough lock on the
    satelites to be useful.

I don't know if there are any tailored to running. I always put a
    regular GPS in the camelback.

GPS wise you have the navman, the timex or the garmin.. the latter two
    you can get with HRM.

and the garmin ?05 range are sirf III and alledgedly a great
improvement in acquiring and holding signal.

i've not heard many reviews of the navman units so can't compare... i
have a 301 which does everything i need. never been keen on the timex
    units.

  4. Thank you for your help... I usually go running in a park 10mins from
my home. It has big trees on the left or right hand side of the path..
Would it be a problem with the Navman or other non Sirf III unities?
    Thanx! :-)
