At 41, I recently gave birth to my first baby. Something strange
occured. During pregnancy, I felt so calm, happy & relaxed. I was
on bedrest and all stressors were removed from my life, but I think
there is more to it.
A doctor mentioned a lack of progesterone/excess estrogen could be at
fault. I can't believe it could be that simple... Another doctor says
taking progesterone will make my blood pressure worse, while another
says not so. I'm really confused now.
Prior to pregnancy:
Type A personality
Always rushing
Hypertension
Anxiety/Panic attacks
Insomnia
Hypothyroid
Impatient
Bursts of anger
Perfectionist
PMS
Migraines
Always Tense
During pregnancy:
ALL my symptoms including Hypertension & Hypothyroid dissapeared. No
more bursts of anger, no impatience or signs of my old Type A
personality. In a nutshell, I became the calmest, nicest and happiest
I've ever been in my life. I was in pure heaven for 9 months. My
husband couldn't believe how sweet & calm I was.
After pregnancy:
ALL my symptoms came back with a vengence, including an extra 10lbs
and really heavy periods. In addition, I now have borderline blood
sugar numbers. My blood pressure which was low the entire pregnancy
literally went back up days within giving birth. Doctor tried Paxil
to make the anxiety better, didn't work on me! She then said I may
be premenopause..what???
Would appreciate any feedback/opinions.
