  1. After stage 16 in each of this years grand tours, here is the number of
    "home" riders in the top 20

    Vuelta: 14 Spanish
    Giro: 11 Italian
    Tour: 1 French.

    Seems like only the Giro and Vuelta could be termed national tours.

    No -- only the Tour can be called a world-class race.

    Dumbass,

    This is a result of two simple facts:

    - The level of riders in Italy and Spain is higher than in France.
    - There is more international interest in the Tour.
