I have a Nashbar Watt Master magnetic trainer that my son has been using for the past few years. It seems to work fairly well, but I was wondering if anyone has any information on the accuracy of the wattage reported by this unit. I have no other power measuring device to compare its results with.

I had one for 11 months before it broke. Glad to see you are having better luck.
To answer your question, I only did one test with it while using a powertap. It was off by 11.2%. It read 277w and actual was 246w. I don't know how this translates to lower or higher-powered intervals, as the accuracy changes quite a bit.

Thanks. That's exactly the information I was looking for. That is right in the range that my son usually trains in when he is doing intervals (typically 250-300 indicated on Watt Master); I'm not really concerned with how it compares to a "reference standard" outside of that range. Hopefully these Watt Masters are fairly consistent from one unit to the next.
