  1. Up in Scotland for some walking next week and was going to stay in
Kinlochleven on Sat night and do a small route in the Mamores on Sunday
with the old folks prior to starting the week. Does anyone have any
advice / opinions about doing Na Gruagaichean from Mamore Lodge /
Kinlochleven. It looks like you can start from Mamore Lodge up the Land
rover track then NE up on to the ridge of Na Gruagaichean and round to
either an early descent down a stalker's path or round to the next peak
(?) and down to the West Highland Way.
The other option is to start from Mamore Lodge / Kinlochleven and do
Sgor Eilde Beag (option for Binnein Mor) then round to Na Gruagaichean
    and down.

Would be grateful for advice - taking the old folks they've done some
walking with a local club but aren't especially confident (got boots
'n' kit tho' and weather looks good). I've not been in the hills for
about 4-5 years so hoping its like riding a bike.

Other than that if we're staying Saturday night in Kinlochleven can you
recommend a gentle walk in the area (< 6 hours) that still takes in a
Munro (for their little tick book).

  2. At Mamore Lodge you have to pay a small parking charge, around £3.
Ask for a receipt as a couple of occasions back he came out and asked
me to pay up, fortunately I had a receipt.

The only problem with Na Gruagaichean maybe snow. I was further
North-West last weekend and there was still a lot of snow higher up.

It is difficult to suggest an alternative but if there is some snow try
Stob Coire Raineach on Buachaille Etive Beag. If snow conditions are
okay you could possible add Stob Dubh. Superb views from there.

  3. Cheers, I'll wait 'til I'm there and make a decision once I see the
    conditions.

  4. I would tend to go with Lindsay and suggest Buachaille Etive Beag -
easy access, 2 easy Munros (if I remember correctly) and not too long a
day. The Mamores are all big hills starting at sea level and if you
haven't been out that much recently, then I would go for the easier
    option.
