Well after a grueling three weeks I can report that:
I failed to turn up for the prologue
Failed to finish Stages 1 through to 21.
I finally thought I'd catch the end of a stage last night when I saw the
peleton in the Champs Elysees but once again didn't have the stamina to
stay with the field for that crutial last half hour.
For some reason I suffered a similar fate on each stage: watching until
the leaders were 30 to 15km from the finish, then find myself unconsious
on the couch at 4am listening to Brazillian folk melodies and staring
confused the SBS weather map.
As this was my first tour, I think I did pretty well to finish only
13.75 hours behind Lance. Next year I think I'll get right in the spirit
of things and load up with a few stimulants. Maybe even Nescafé, or even
better Lavazza, will sponsor me.
Viva le tour! Viva le sleep!
