Yes. Your LBS may very well have a Speedplay repair kit. The one I worked at did.

You can rebuild almost the entire pedal.

Wow. You mean you can/should maintain pedals? :-) I've had Frogs on my mtb for five+ years (and road
bike for 2). They never gave me any trouble, but this thread prompted me to check them, and the left
one is actually quite loose. I'll have to remember that the next time I'm at the LBS.

But that whole mtb is on its last legs anyway. It's been such a forgiving machine (1998 K2 Proflex).
I'll pay more attention to my road bike's Frogs now.

You may be able to adjust the bearings to take out the slop, but you're better off replacing them.
If your LBS doesn't have a kit, try contacting Speedplay directly.

My Magnums got rebuilt right before I left. If I could bring myself to drill the cleats off my old
shoes, I'd put them on a new pair...

The BMW (motorcycle) dealer said something to the effect of: periodic mainence is always less
expensive than emergency repairs.

My LBS does not sell the Speedplays no longer and Speedplay does not answere my mail. I have found a
shop in Denmark though that has the repair kit. I might try to get it from there. But I would expect
the pedals to last more than 5000 miles. My X2 road pedals have no play in the bearings and have
about the same milage. Hjalmar
