  1. I bought Arthurs fixed a few weeks ago. Due to lask of time I finally
got round to finishing fettling it up and went for my first fixed ride
    today.

Must confess I was a little apprehensive as my only other experiences
with fixed have been on the velodrome. Of course I was OK and really
enjoyed my ride, kinda like cycling for dummies, no need to think, just
pedal. With the 58" gear I was pretty steady on the flat and pedalling
furiously on the downhills ! (furious cycling is an offense I believe)
but Ok on all the hills I had to climb including the one on my commute.
I did about 25 miles, not much traffic in the country side and felt
confident enough to traverse the city. Went fine, not quite
trackstanding but managing to stop and start safely in front of the
busses and bank holiday shoppers. Must confess to being more tired than
I should have been after this route but one has to start somewhere.
