Throughout the evening it was a dead heat between Zabel/Risi and Marvulli/Keisse, with the two teams trading the lead by a single point or two such that, by the final madison, both teams were about 30 points ahead of where they were at the beginning of the night but on equal points. In the final race Marvulli drew first blood, but Risi responded a few laps later by leaving the bunch when Marvulli was only a few metres from tagging back on. Thereafter, one team couldn't leave without the other team joining, with Stam/Schep and Llaneras/Galvez shadowing each other for third. With 50 laps to go (of the 300 lap race) it was Zabel and Keisse closing on the field for yet another lap gained. When Zabel slung in Risi, Risi immediately shot through the field and off the front again; the crowd went wild, of course. Keisse slung in Marvulli but Marvulli had no answer and could only hold his position. Zabel and Risi worked frantically (Zabel had a huge grin on his face as he responded to the crowd's enthusiasm and knew that this bold move would seal the victory) and caught the bunch as Marvulli/Keisse slowly worked their way into attacking position again. M/K tried attacking a few more times but didn't have the legs as they would gain 50 metres and then gradually fall back to the group again, usually led by Risi or Zabel. The points differences come solely from the last 50 laps, which gave points bonuses every 10 laps. Marvulli won one, Zabel came close on another, and Risi sprinted hard to win the last points, the madison, and the Munich 6-days for the 7th time.
